There is nothing worse than seeing your kids face light up and then fall crushed because the toy is broken. I learned early on to check toys before giving. I bought three different ones because I loved all the pictures and they don't hold much. Each one had an issue: 1) drawers didn't open without forcing them. 2) the wood piece that holds the drawers from falling out were not attached anymore, they were in the bottom of the drawer. 3)the music box kept starting and stopping and was so scratchy you couldn't tell what the song was. Although beautiful on the outside, they will end up in the trash quickly. Spend a little extra and get them something that will last at least a few years.

What a perfect gift for a little girl! It is beautifully painted, the craftsmanship is solid, and it offers a little girl the opportunity to let her imaginative spirit create endless stories. I gave two away for Christmas, the youngest was 3 and both were thrilled. Truly, a very special gift...!

I bought it for my 7 year old daughter along with the matching mirror. Really neat box due to the "hidden" drawers on all sides of the box. She loves it!

I bought this for my 6-yo daughter. She loves it, and I am very happy with the quality. Drawers open smoothly. Music is nice. No rough edges. No complaints at all.

I bought this for my wife for Christmas who still very much loves unicorns and fairies and anything pink. She was very cute as she spent her time figuring out what jewelery she would put in which drawer, just like a six year old girl. She actually got a very nice carved jewelry box from my sister-in-law, but this one was hands down her favourite. I think this would make an excellent present for a young girl or any women who still has a little girl in her, like mine.

Love these DVD's! My kids love the Brady Bunch! They make a great rainy day show to watch!

Season four of "The Brady Bunch" is highly regarded as the greatest season of the series by Brady enthusiasts. The writing was impeccable with the creative team knowing each character and the stories were involving and inspired. This set features all 23 episodes uncut that originally aired on ABC in the 1972-1973 TV season. The opener that year is the most popular Brady episode, which is a three parter, that has the Bradys vacationing in beautiful Hawaii. None other than horror movie actor Vincent Price guest-stars and the family finds themselves embroiled in vodoo, curses, poison spiders, caves, surfing, and Don Ho. Another great episode is the "unofficial" Halloween episode titled "Fright Night". The kids try to scare each other, but Alice is the one who ends up horrified. I watch this show every October 31st! "Goodbye, Alice, Hello" is a sad episode as Alice leaves the Bradys after a series of misunderstandings between her and the children. "Amateur Night" has the Brady kids singing on TV and this episode is known for the song "It's A Sunshine Day". Finally, "The Sunject Was Noses" has Marcia being hit in the nose by a football. A wonderful season that will be enjoyed by many generations to come!

The Brady Bunch Season 4 is by far the best season! it has amazing classic episodes that really defined the show such as... Season 5 was..to say the least..awful, so i bought the first 4 seasons and left it at that, if they had ended on this season they would have ended on a high! my only complaint to this series is the 3 part season opener.. the family goes to hawaii and the first of the 3 episodes is typical brady humour just in a different location! the next 2 episodes is where it goes abit wrong as they make the storylines too surreal and not brady like at all! this is the season when Maureen McCormick (Marcia) and Barry Williams (Greg) started dating in real life so its always fun to watch the episodes are try and spot little glances between them! all in all its a great season, 23 episodes of pure brady fun that never get old!

The Brady Bunch - The Complete Fourth Season just keeps getting better. I really enjoyed every season even those weird Oliver episodes in the last season. The kids are older and the parents don't seem as square like in the first couple of seasons. I never was a fan of Alice, she's too boring. Jan was my favorite even though a lot of fans thought she was a drama queen. My favorite episodes from season 4 include: Today, I Am A Freshman, Jan, the Only Child, Greg's Triangle, Love and the Older Man, and Greg Gets Grounded. I highly recommend it!

These dvd's are forever timeless in respect to enjoyment they give to kids of today as they were for kids of yesterday. I ordered this season hopeing to give some relief to my kids from the presures of todays environment and they loved it, Seems I will have to order more seasons as they will want more. Sherwood Schwarts (sp) was a master!

This is a black and white film made of a period novel. The costumes and settings are 19th century French. The movie has a tight thematic structure of a love triangle where a set of diamond heart earrings are a central prop. First Louise the wife of the general sells them to pay her debts, and says she lost them and he buys them back from the jeweler. He gives them to his departing mistress and she losing them gambling. A French diplomat, the Baron, buys them and meets the Madame de and falls in love. The triangle revolves around the earrings when she gets them as a gift from the Baron. I liked the movie and the structure of the romance gone wrong.

Although I can add little to the agreeable reviews of this magnificent film, perhaps I can save some Amazon patrons the time I spent in finding a soundtrack CD containing three or four of the film's beautifully haunting waltz compositions. Just search Amazon for the Georges Van Parys (et la cinema) soundtrack. (Georges Van Parys and Oscar Straus were the main composers for this film.) ENJOY!

If you don't know who said that, it means you haven't checked out the interview with the author of the book on which this movie is based, included in the bonus materials. Yup, Louise de Vilmorin herself dumps on the movie but good. She says "wrong" (faux) so many times I lost track. Apparently, Ophuls initially handed her a treatment for the movie that she thought was fine, then producers didn't think that was commercial enough and they had the story changed in so many ways that it no longer resembled the book. de Vilmorin pulls no punches in her critique and the points are all well taken. I too found the whole business hard to believe and not the least bit romantic. The ending is awful and about as cliche as it gets. The idea that a French general would challenge an Italian diplomat to a duel is just silly. Why? Can you spell "international incident"? There is no way the French Foreign Ministry would have allowed such foolishness, nor would a senior military officer even consider such behavior in real life = court martial. Yes, I know there are stupid generals but the general in the film is not stupid. This story was filmed again in 2001 with Carole Bouquet in the title role, and that's a much better movie. Gone are the annoying tracking shots, there is no silly duel, and the ending actually make sense, ditto the moral of the story, which is what can happen when pride is put ahead of love. Unfortunately, this version is only available in French without subtitles and you can only get it at Amazon.Fr. Oh well ...

Even without the great performances of Charles Boyer and Danielle Darrieux as General de.... and his wife, even without the superlative use of camera movement and mise-en-scene, this famous 1953 Max Ophuls melodrama would be worth seeing just for its spectacular sets and costumes of the Parisian Belle Epoque (although based on a novella by Louise Leveque de Vilmorin, the setting is the same beau monde as in Proust's fiction). The wealthy spoiled beautiful wife of a titled French general, the title heroine (Darrieux) pawns the diamond earrings her husband gave her as a wedding present; the earrings change hands again and again, acquiring different meanings altogether as they circulate, and come back several times into the hands of Madame de...; they represent the only stability in her world of evanescent pleasures and loyalties and values. As the earrings travel we see Madame de... grow up and become first the celebrant--and then the victim--of her own mature passion for a titled Italian diplomat (the film director Vittorio de Sica). Few actors could have carried off this metamorphosis as believably and as poignantly as Darrieux, who genuinely makes us feel for the unfaithful heroine after her lover leaves her for insulting his honor; Boyer, as her well-meaning husband (who is slow to wrath but who can arrive at it eventually) is equally fine. As with most Ophuls films, it begins with an unforgettable sequence (a lengthy POV shot of Madame de... moving in and among her beautiful wardrobe, deciding which among her opulent effects to pawn) that is equaled by other effortless shots that show his incredible mastery of camera movement. The adjoining bedrooms and boudoirs of Boyer's and Darrieux's form one of the most gorgeous sets ever devised for a film; the way the camera moves through it is almost heartstoppingly beautiful.

This 1953 B&W French film (with subtitles, if needed) by the fantastic Max Ophüls is stunning! Charles Boyer is the husband, the Général, and his wife is the beautiful Danielle Darrieux; her eyes alone are mesmerizing. The cinematography is sensational, the pictures crisp and well framed. You almost feel as though you are part of the film. The story, set in Paris of the late 19th century, is of a romantic triangle between the Général, his wife, and her handsome lover -- and the earrings that pass amongst them. It's entertaining on so many levels -- there's romance, and comedy, and tragedy, and the musical score -- so brilliant -- this film is a winner!

These earrings are adorable, and nicely sized for a child's ears. It took us several pairs, though, to realize the problem: if you touch the backing AT ALL before you stick them to earlobes, they will not stick properly. This means your child will likely not be able to put these on by herself, and you will probably waste several pairs of earrings. Although she has enjoyed them, given the price I would not buy them again.

I bought this item for Halloween, and I had wanted to make it look like I had really pierced my lip, however I was a bit disappointed when I got it and saw that the hoop is pretty thick. I didn't try it on anywhere else other than using it as a fake lip ring, but if a person were to use it as a nose ring, I think it would look pretty ridiculous since the hoop isn't slim enough. Another thing I noticed was that it's made out of some cheap painted plastic which tends to kind of irritate the inside of your mouth when you keep it on your lip for the whole day, but this didn't bug me so much. Overall, I think this product is okay, even though it lacks the genuine appearance of a real lip ring, from faraway, it doesn't look so bad.

This book inspired is a favorite writing activity that I've used with younger grades, as well as with older ones. I have even used this writing activity in workshops with adults to demonstrate how literature can fuel writing. First I read Earrings aloud to the class. In the story a girl passionately begs her parents to allow her to pierce her ears. She makes all sorts of extravagant promises to them, "Like, walk our dog every day for one whole year. Like, clean my room every day for one whole year. Like, read a book once a week for one whole year. Like, be nice to my little brother for one whole year. Well maybe six months. And I wouldn't ask for new clothes, because I could wear the same old clothes - and just change my earrings." Then the students and I have a discussion about something they want and are trying to convincve their parents to give them. The writing assignment is to write a letter/persuasive essay to someone - usually parents - about something you really really want. I've gotten some great pieces of writing in return.

This is a wonderfully funny book to share with young girls. It's a perfect book to teach persuasion-if you're a teacher.

As a teacher, I am always on the lookout for a great book that demonstrates the type of writing I am teaching. In this case, EARRINGS is a wonderful example of persuasion. The little girl is trying to convince her parents that she is ready for pierced ears, but her parents (like myself) are stubborn. She uses every form of persuasion, from begging to making deals, to get her parents to relent. I use this book when introducing persuasive writing, to my fifth graders.

My sister really enjoyed this book and we checked is out of the library so much we had to but it for Christmas. A cute tale for all little girls to read.

This book is a great beginner book. If you are wanting to learn simple, well-explained projects, this book is for you. They are beginner level projects that would be perfect for children. If you've already learned beading basics, this book would be a waste of your money.

The snappy, fun, and bright beaded jewelry in this book will motivate crafty adolescents to try their hand at making these pieces. The materials are easy to acquire where there are beading supplies, and the instructions are very well illustrated and easy to follow. The techniques are fairly simple, mostly using needle and thread. One of the pieces shows how to finish the ends by using a crimp bead next to the clasps, but all the others are finished by tying the ends in a knot around the clasps, and then sealed with clear nail polish. This repetition of technique keeps the process simple and eliminates the tools generally used in jewelry-making. Some kids might want some help, but once started, they should sail along making these coiled bracelets, strung bracelets and anklets, and earrings. There are also clear illustrations for making a bead loom, and for showing how to weave the beads on the loom to make Indian-look woven bracelets.

Wonderful book for kids who want to try beading. Teachers, scout leaders, and others who are looking for projects for their kids.

I am an elementary school library. I adore the Zack Files as a hook to interest reluctant readers as well as beginning readers. The reading levels are 2.2-3.2, but the humor keeps the kids laughing for upper grade reader, too. Pam

This is another book in the "Zack Files Series" which I thought was one of the funnier ones. The boy starts turning into a cat and does cat-like things. This author has such a wonderful imagination that his books are always interesting because anything can happen! It's a fun break from reality and is great for a laugh and to just relax. I recommend this for any age, both kids and adults!

This book is the best one I read yet, because it was exciting. It was amazing how the cat statue came to life. It was scary and funny that Zack was turning into a cat. These books are great cause you never know what to expect.

My daughter read this book for a oral school book report. She really liked it because she thought it was funny that Zack started to turn into a cat. After giving her report several others in her class also read the book and thought it was funny too.

Zack Files:Never Trust A Cat Who Wears Earrings is about a kid named Zack who lives with his dad in their apartment. One day at school he walked in to a room with a lady worshiping a cat. So he walked over to the cat and it scratched him. Soon Zack started acting like a cat and has a big problem to solve, how was he going to get back to a normal kid. My opinion of this book is that it is a great one. I read it three times in one week, and I recomend it to everyone.
